Dance, Walk & Talk
In the run-up to SOMMERSZENE and around the festival programme there is a constantly growing and changing range of accompanying activities and events devoted to specific items of the programme. In addition to already established formats such as after talks with the artists, workshops for professional dancers and a teachersʼ stammtisch, we also invite you to a “moving” programme presentation. The SOMMERSZENE Walking Dance Classes hosted by Flavourama will cross the city on two evenings with plenty of movement, informative side steps and good vibes. At the end of this programme tour you will be greeted with refreshing drinks and cool sounds.
All the events are free of charge.
Meeting Point - Festival
This year SOMMERSZENE is a guest at SCHAU.RAUM.STADT, House of Talents at Anton-Neumayr-Platz 1 – a free space initiated by Altstadtmarketing Salzburg. During the festival, the venue will become an open meeting point for the audience and artists: for warm-ups and artist talks, for conversations and exchanges before and after the shows – or simply as somewhere to hang out, meet and develop ideas.
Digesting Space
After the applause fades, something often remains. Digesting Space invites you to stay with that – to chew, ruminate, and digest. Dance becomes more than a fleeting moment. An open space for exchange and reflection, curated by Anna Menslin and Fernanda Ermelindo.

Warm Ups – Introductory Talks
There will be an introductory talk 30 minutes before the performance for all events taking place at the SZENE. These warm-ups provide exciting insights into the themes and background of the works and the biographies of the artists.

Workshop - Solène Weinachter
In a dialogue with the dance scholar Miriam Althammer, Solène Weinachter offers insights into her research into burial cultures and performative forms of farewell: how do rituals develop? And what can dance achieve when the limits of language are reached? The talk will be supplemented with practical movement exercises and will offer participants direct experience of Weinachterʼs way of working.
