Tonky Lonky is using public confession and absolution to attack, cynically and provocatively, relevant topics from family relations, robots, human communication, and daily concerns. By doing so, distorted relations about individual's motives and a voyeuristic pleasure are coming into play.
Based on found footage interviews, Shemesh creates a collage that touches on themes from the bland to the intimate, seeking an aesthetic between minimalism and grotesque. Together with the six dancers of the BODHI PROJECT dance company, they will re-enact the interviews in various ways, such as singing and lip-synching. The text will be transformed into rhythmical patterns and movements. Through the plot of the work, the characters will be revealed in their fragility and powerlessness towards disasters and loss of control in front of nature and in their inability to embrace each other.
