apap FEMINIST FUTURES comes to an end

The four-year programme, funded by the European Union, was successfully completed on 30 September 2024.

FEMINIST FUTURES 2022-2024 was conducted by eleven European cultural institutions, including SZENE Salzburg. Its core aim was to challenge hierarchical and economic power structures in the performing arts and to replace them with feminist and community-oriented models of working and living. Key activities in Salzburg have been the Feminist Futures Festival held in the winter of 2022, together with a discursive and participatory programme for arts students, the Feminist School. Additionally, so-called ventures took place where artists devised open formats together with local communities.

apap - advancing performing art project is one of the longest running European networks of festivals and performing arts centres. Launched in 2000, it has grown over the years thanks to the support of the EU Culture Programmes. In 20 years, the network has supported hundreds of artists through co-productions, residencies, presentations and many other forms of experimenting and developing new and better ways to grow and develop the performing arts system.
