The first musical performance at the Stone Theatre in Hellbrunn took place in 1617; it was a pastoral dedi­cated to the Archbishop Markus Sittikus and performed by the Italian singer Francesco Rasi. In 2023 the Salz­burg choreographer Helene Weinzierl and her company CieLAROQUE will perform on this unique stage carved out of rock. ON THE ROCKS is interested in movement, community, the reciprocal relationship that can evolve through direct or mediated contact between two or more people: the sum of what happens between per­sons acting and reacting. The six dancers explore various possibilities of connecting with the other participants: supported by sound from the composer Oliver Stotz, the performers evaluate many different variations of inter­personal contact and letting each other go, and through their precisely arranged movements repeatedly gener­ate new forms of encounter. Its choreographic vocabu­lary focusses not on perfection, but deliberately targets rough edges and imperfections. As a result, it offers the audience the chance to examine, shape or construct their own relationship to the most varied experiences.
 
In 1995 Helene Weinzierl founded CieLAROQUE, one of the most touring ensembles of the Austrian dance scene. In her choreographic, interdisciplinary works she often deals with socio­politically relevant themes. She has received numerous international prizes for her pieces, which are characterised by a clear, intense lan­guage of movement.
