In a dialogue with the dance scholar Miriam Althammer, Solène Weinachter offers insights into her research into burial cultures and performative forms of farewell:
A fascinating and mysterious atmosphere surrounded Deva Schubert’s site-specific performance “missed tones (in the corridor)”.
The SOMMERSZENE Meeting Point is open now and a lovely place to get together, engage in conversation and discuss.
Set in a post-apocalyptic landscape, Break the Dam sees five performers grappling with weight, repetition and resistance. Micro-movements flow through the group, gradually loosening their rigidity and initiating their transformation.
The 2026 Summer Season has opened. It was a wonderful evening, which was given a real boost by Sasha Waltz’s iconic piece "Travelogue I – Twenty to Eight".
This year’s SOMMERSZENE opens with Sasha Waltz’s iconic dance classic *Travelogue I – Twenty to Eight*. From 8 to 23 June, fourteen productions await you, including five Austrian premieres and two world premieres, covering a wide artistic spectrum. The thematic perspectives, aesthetic languages and stylistic forms impressively demonstrate the socio-political urgency of choreography and performance. This year’s SOMMERSZENE opens with Sasha Waltz’s iconic dance classic *Travelogue I – Twenty to Eight*. Herzliche Einladung zum nächsten Lehrer*innen-Stammtisch, wo Sie geballte Infos zur SOMMERSZENE (8. - 23.6.) erwarten. Wir freuen uns auf Euch!
At a walking-dance class organised by Flavourama, the enthusiastic audience was treated to a dynamic presentation of the SOMMERSZENE programme, with Salzburg city centre serving as the stage.
The Walking Dance Classes hosted by Flavourama will turn the Salzburg city centre into a stage. Dancers from street and club styles such as hip hop, breaking, house dance, waacking and many more will guide members of the public from one SOMMERSZENE venue to the next and offer insights into a selection of performances from this summerʼs festival.
