Hip Hop goes Theatre has been providing the urban dance scene with a classical theatre stage since 2008 and presents top international companies from the Urban Dance genre.

Tentacle Tribe (CAN/SWE)
Prism (approx. 20 min)
A highlight of the program is Prism by the Canadian-Swedish company Tentacle Tribe. With their stunning blend of urban dance, martial arts, and contemporary movement forms, they transport the audience into a kaleidoscopic world of mirrors, light, and pulsating physical energy.
Tentacle Tribe was founded in 2012 by choreographers and multiple award-winning dancers Emmanuelle Lê Phan and Elon Höglund. The duo—she a B-Girl, he a B-Boy—combine Breaking and Popping with partner work and animal movement in a uniquely sensitive way. Their works tour internationally, have received the Prix de la Danse de Montréal, and significantly shape the global urban dance scene.

Chris Cross (AUT/GER)
Luminous (approx. 5 min)
Luminous is an excerpt from the upcoming production Zweifelslicht by Chris Cross, which will premiere next year. His choreography explores the leap into new realms, the exploration of technologies, abilities, and knowledge that can profoundly change life. Yet this progress is not free of doubt or fear. The piece stands for moving forward with courage, despite those doubts.
Chris Cross is a dancer, dance teacher, and choreographer specializing in urban dance styles. His career has taken him to 21 countries, and he has won 28 awards for his pieces to date. He was a semi-finalist on Britain’s Got Talent and a finalist on Das Supertalent on RTL.

Jana Thaler (AUT)
La Guerrière (approx. 8 min)
An energetic urban dance piece that unites elements of Breaking, Hip Hop, and House Dance. The choreography tells of the constant struggle for dedication and effort, of trusting one’s own flow, and of the conscious decision to keep going. It is a dance statement about willpower, resilience, and the courage to start anew again and again.
Jana Thaler is a Tyrolean dancer and choreographer with over 20 years of dance experience. She specializes in Hip Hop, House, and Breaking, and has worked with renowned dance companies such as Hungry Sharks (AT), Company Naya (FR), Quadrupede Créatif (FR), and Lightmotion (AT). In April 2025, she won the Red Bull BC One Cyphers Austria and will represent Austria at the World Final in Tokyo.

Robozee (GER)
Robozee vs. Sartre (approx. 12 min)
Robozee vs. Sartre is a powerful solo performance that merges urban dance with existential philosophy. Inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre, the piece explores questions of identity, freedom, and self-perception—physically intense, precise, and deeply thoughtful.
Robozee is one of Europe’s most influential urban dance artists. Born in Greece and raised in Germany, he discovered his passion for Popping in the late 1990s and developed a style that fuses precise body control with theatrical depth.

Streetdance Center Salzburg (AUT)
Get ready to rock (approx. 7 min)
Once again this year, the Streetdance Center brings together various groups and styles. The interplay of dynamic breaking crews with energetic dancers from the Hip Hop and Commercial Choreo classes results in a vibrant showcase of Hip Hop, Breaking, and House, radiating pure joy.
The Streetdance Center is a community of dancers aiming to bring the universal language of dance and the captivating Hip Hop culture closer to children, youth, and adults. This year’s talents are guided by trainers Pia Grohmann, Elena Althaler, Cornelia Pirchner, and Michaela Eichhorn.

SDC Production (AUT)
Living Roulette (approx. 7 min)
This piece fuses SDC’s dance styles—Breaking, Hip Hop, and Commercial—into a gripping narrative about a dangerous game involving love, money, and time.
Under the creative direction of Elena Althaler, trainers Pia Grohmann and Michaela Dunston collaborated on this piece. Their work earned them the Austrian championship title at the Dance Star competition of the European Dance Union.

Pia Grohmann (AUT)
Into the Zone (approx. 7 min)
Being totally “in the flow.” As children, we experience this state intensely; as adults, we often struggle to find it. How do we enter the zone? What does it take to reach that state? And why do we lose touch with it in our head-driven lives?
Pia Grohmann and a youth dance-theatre group have dedicated themselves to this topic, exploring what dance gives them and how movement transforms mind and body.

Timo Bouter (AUT/BEL)
bare bones (approx. 5 min)
This solo piece focuses on a lonely figure living in radical isolation, whose perception of the outside world oscillates between the desire to be seen and the fear of being exposed.
Timo Bouter, known as Tik, grew up in Brussels and found his way to Breaking through ballet and jazz. As a performer, he danced with the Funky Monkez Crew and the Hungry Sharks Company on national and international stages. Since 2022, he has been studying at SEAD in Salzburg.
