As a singer, composer and producer, Lylit embodies radical musical honesty and profound emotional expression. Her haunting, powerful voice and the uncompromising intensity of her performances get right under your skin – direct and unvarnished. On her new album *Her*, she combines intimate piano compositions with her unmistakable voice and classical string arrangements. Whereas earlier productions featured larger-scale and more complex arrangements, Her strips everything back to the pure essence. “I wanted to create something that felt more intimate – essentially just piano and voice,” she says. Within this focused core of her musical expression, a space emerges in which emotion, language and sound merge into an intimate and unadulterated presence.

Noura Mint Seymali was born into a distinguished family of Moorish griots and grew up deeply rooted in the poetic tradition of these West African bards, poets and musicians. Having grown up immersed in this rich and multifaceted musical culture, in which sounds from across the Sahara, the Maghreb and West Africa blend together, Noura Mint Seymali carries on this legacy today as one of Mauritania’s most courageous young artists. Her powerful voice and hypnotic stage presence have made her a leading figure in contemporary African music. In her performances, the deep modal soundscapes of the Moorish griot tradition meet psychedelic guitar lines and driving rhythms.
