For the Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos theatre and dance are two sides of one and the same fundamental stage experience: entering into a dialogue with others. Now the internationally successful artist makes his first guest appearance in Austria with the ensemble piece Elvedon. The evening is inspired by Virginia Woolf’s novel The Waves, whose central theme is the passage of time.

The choreographic flow is driven forward by precise rhythms, continually recurring elements and tantalizing, constantly shifting movement patterns. Here the vibrant leaps and subtle micro-movements of the six virtuoso dancers combine in an overall image that is static and at the same time constantly flowing. In Elvedon Papadopoulos creates a choreography that captures the novel’s underlying idea that everything is constantly flowing in a fascinating way.
