In Tomorrow’s Parties, the legendary British company Forced Entertainment examines the speculative nature of hope and countless possibilities of what the future might hold. The stage turns into a battleground of utopias, between possible and impossible futures. In virtuoso storytelling style, two performers one female, one male describe realistic developments, fictional scenarios for the future and the hopes, fears, clichés and fantasies associated with them. They tell of secret dreams, reveal utopian desires and propose new models of society or naive fantasies, creating a new future in which perhaps nothing has changed or maybe everything is entirely different. As usual ambiguous, comic, subtle, sometimes deliberately banal, occasionally trashy and at times touching, Tomorrow’s Parties discusses everything we can currently only speculate about.

Since forming the company in 1984, the six core members of Forced Entertainment have sustained a unique artistic partnership, confirming time and again their position as trailblazers in contemporary theatre. Their trademark collaborative devising process has made them pioneers of avant-garde theatre and earned them an international reputation. Based in Sheffield, UK, their work has been seen all over the world. With their visionary show Tomorrow’s Parties, premiered in 2011, the company guests the second time at Sommerszene.
