With Found Poems Andrea Maurer offers a poetic service on eight festival evenings: in brief walks to various locations close to the SZENE theatre she undertakes short readings off the beaten track: while literally deconstructing the evening’s programme texts, she reassembles their bits and pieces into miniature text sculptures. In Found Poems the periphery turns into the centre stage and a site of poetic interaction. On the pavement, behind a protruding wall, on a staircase, next to a bench etc. words find themselves disorderly reordered while our ideas are being scattered and dispersed.

During Andrea Maurer’s 15-minutepoetry machineries, scissors might come into play cuttingthe words’ edges, letters might be blown away and people will be invited to a can of beer or two.

Andrea Maurer lives and works as a visual artist, performer and choreographer in Vienna. She adapts, dismantles and distorts the links between language, reality and perception mostly in performative and/or installation formats. Maurer holds a degree from the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Her 2013 work Gesprächsgegenstände won the Salzburg region’s Media Art Award. Her performance SELBSTZERLEGUNG won her the H13 Prize for Performance awarded by Kunstraum Niederösterreichin 2016. Her upcoming installation Du bist nicht gerade in Anordnung plötzlich da will be presented at the Galerie 5020 in Salzburg.
