friday 8.7. and saturday 9.7., 9 pm, republiclet your dreams come true! the superamas’ youdream is an intelligent answer to youtube, a place where people from all over europe can share their dreams with one another, whether they’re absurd, erotic, circular, fearful, or life-affirming. using these stories as material, the french/austrian artist collective has created a piece which alternates between the worlds of theater, internet chatrooms, and film thrillers. they combine performance, dance, light design, film, installation and music to construct a self-contained world. youdreams is a report on europe’s conscious and unconscious, on its nations and identity-is europe an overstuffed receptacle for competing national interests, or a model for transnational unity? the performance takes this ambivalence and uses it as the basis for a kind of toying with the line behind reality and illusion. and some of the material for the work could even come from you: upload a dream as video at www.youdream.be and with a little luck, you could see it realized on stage.

QUESTIONS/ANSWERS:
szene salzburg is taking a major step in its summer program and is declaring sommerszene a “free festival“ from now on. this means we are not selling tickets anymore and are announcing the freedom of art being also the freedom of participation. this move and the discussion that is raised around it allows us a strong and basic communication to a wider public and to focus on the present and future role of the arts.
being the content of this festival we very much would like the artists to be part of this communication and help us to enrich the discussion with your statements. here are three questions that we’ve asked them and the answers:
what influential developments are you expecting in the upcoming future?
In the Arts, we will always find a resistance to the powers-that-be and dominant forces in all domains… but hopefully in the future, with a bigger consideration for the consumers… and audience members…
what role should (will) the arts play?
… thus the Arts will reach a wider acceptance and recognition as a vital phenomenon…
what chances does a free performing arts festival offer?
… what a Festival For Free can honnestly claim for and stand for!
