the light forest is an installation that plays with our perceptions, subtly choreographs our experiences, stimulates our senses, and through the use of artificial light in nature poses questions on the relationship between man and nature. these questions are the most important questions of the future for mette ingvartsen and are a central motivation, besides the success of the work during the previous sommerszene festival, for a “reinstallation”. the use of energy-saving, eco-friendly power sources means that the preservation is a practical as well as theoretical concern in the piece. while audience members were led through the space in the installation’s previous form, they now have the chance to explore it freely at their own pace. the combination of the artistic and the artificial in the work encourages discussion of the natural and the man made and the overlapping roles of architecture and nature in the city.
